If I Could Have Dinner
If I could have dinner with five people dead or alive I’d want to have dinner with J.K. Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe, Marie Antoinette, Oprah, and God. My reason for these choices are that these individuals each have a story that had some sort of impact in the world whether it be creation or imagination. Regardless of how much time goes by they will still be remembered as a part of what made the generations the way they were. The first person I’d want to have dinner with would be J.K. Rowling this is because I became infatuated with her Harry Potter series at a young age, which then created this love of literature and a desire to inspire, no pun intended. I’d want to ask her about to novel and what inspired a world of magic and muggles. It’s a cliche question, yet there is something about asking questions to one of your …show more content…
But it’s rather odd that the people would copy her style and then blame her for the debt that France was in, it’s rather amusing when you think about it. I’d want to ask her if she could do it over again would she fight for love or stand her ground on her Austrian fashion and not indulge in the bougie fashion that was forced upon her by the french, which would mean that the french people are the cause of their own debt when you consider the events that took place. Next I would want to talk to Oprah only because I’m so intrigued by how far she has gone in the tv business as and African American woman. Now I know some people will say that that’s crazy or odd for me to to word that last sentence, but it is true if you look back at some of Oprah’s videos from the past that there were racial issues, so to see her continue to strive despite it all is very

While wearing an fashion outfit originally designed by herself, Johnson's aspirations of becoming a successful fashion designer made such a impressive statement on the Vogue editor that the magazine offered to publish a feature story on her. Following this publication, she was approached by Ebony with an offer to perform as a live mannequin for the Ebony Fashion Fair annual national runway tour. Although modeling looked promising, she was met with a dose of racism while on tour in the southern states of the United States, including a confrontation with the Klu Klux Klan. This prompted Johnson to relocate to Paris, France, where she performed runway modeling for well-known fashion industry designers, such as Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint Laurent and many more. By the start of the 1970s, Pat Cleveland was doing more than making a name for herself; she was redefining the racial constrictions placed on African-American models in the fashion industry in every way possible. Beverly Johnson was the first African-American supermodel to break the barriers for black women in the fashion…

After she says that “Black people are much more likely to be killed by police than their white peers. That sounds ridiculous, but it is based on facts.” She never thought that anything like this would have resided in her hometown. Finally, she says that racism is still alive, especially here in Louisiana and “this problem is not completely due to the whites either, my state has just traded in their KKK robes for police uniforms, agency officials, and politicians. This is so sad but true. We are all God’s children, so why should we be at war with one another because of differences? Let’s all get-together, assist each other, and succeed in life. We need to not let racism tear us apart. The diversity here can be a source of strength. The history is great; the food is terrific, but many people seem to think a little more melanin makes one race superior to another.”…

In 1986, she created Harpo Productions Inc., and a couple years later decided to purchase her own studio in the heart of Chicago. Like most entrepreneurs, she took own ownership and production of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, taking on greater financial risks in order to gain greater achievements. This made her the first African American, male or female, to own her own production company. This was seen as a big gamble, and many said that she would end up failing by leaving. Through the gamble of venturing out on her own, she spread her voice throughout the whole country. Every week, an average of 20 million U.S citizens would tune in to listen to what she would have to say on a certain topic. The 90’s became filled with talk shows on many networks, but Winfrey was able to flourish as she chose to empathize with people who were in desperate need of help. As she would emphasize solutions to help people, other shows would discuss topics that are now seen on E! or TMZ; unimportant stories that would fill up 30…

    1) Why does she seem like a racist herself?: She always is talking about how white people benefit so much from things they don’t even realize they benefit from. Well how about all the special groups and organizations that are set up just for black people. I think she should take another look at our society before she says that white benefit so trememdously. I am not saying whites do not benefit more but she really, really drills this opinion and I disagree.…

Oprah Winfrey, for one, grew up in an abusive household where male relatives of hers would repeatedly molest her, which took an emotional toll on Oprah. She was an unsettled teenager who appeared to have no future ahead of her, considering the cruelty and harm she had undergone. After Oprah moved to Nashville to live with her father, where she could have easily been absorbed in the same life style she perused in New York, constantly surrounding herself with promiscuous behavior. Instead, she cleaned up her act and won the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant, got an on-air job at WVOL, and also won a full scholarship to Tennessee State University. From there she continued her career as a radio newscaster, and eventually had her own radio show. With continued persistence, Oprah gained her own television talk show and is now the highest-paid performer on television. Oprah’s ambition was what drove her to continue her fight through her hard childhood, and make a positive, healthy life for herself. If Oprah lacked the ambitious qualities that she had and gave up, she would likely be trapped as a damaged and troubled woman who let her past experience define who she…
