Sarita, was electrocuted by a 11,000 watt high tension wire. The doctors had to amputate Sarita's hands and the right leg. Though heart broken, Vimala recollected her nerves and instilled courage in Santa along with raising her other children. The most important fact was Vimala encouraged Sarita to continue with her studies and learn writing skills with the toes of her left foot. Today Sarita is not only self reliant and can manage all her daily activities but is also perfect in handling delicate strokes of paint and brush while being equally proficient in things like stitching, embroidery, etc. She has also twice been awarded with President's Medal `Bal Shree', besides other awards.
