First, illegal immigration is a huge controversy in our society and many people have different views on the topic. One solution is coming into the U.S. legally and lawfully. This may take some time but overall it will make easier lives for everyone. “In 1924, the United States established the Border Patrol to prevent unlawful entry along U.S boundaries” (“Immigration” 83). This border patrol was established to keep out unlawful immigrants hurting the country. As said earlier many unlawful immigrants hurt the economy and commit many crimes. But some immigrants got lucky since they had lived here and they had a chance to stay. The Immigration Reform and Control act of 1986 offers amnesty to immigrants who had lived in the U.S since January 1, 1982, and had worked for at least 3 months of farm labor in the U.S. from May 1, 1985 to May 1,1986 (“Immigration” 83). This gave a pardon to immigrants who had lived and worked some in the U.S. Although some immigrants didn’t take the pardon and continued to live unlawfully which hurts the U.S and its economy.
