When this act was passed a federal law was placed called “Employers Sanctions Provisions of IRCA”. This law made it difficult for undocumented immigrants to find jobs. Undocumented workers were already being exploited as the Encyclopedia of Race and Racism states “... the employer could not be blamed for having undocumented workers on their premises. If they are caught, the company could (still can) argue that they had merely hired the subcontractor and that they were not aware of the legal status of the workers.” This is important because this proves that employers do not care for the well being of their undocumented
