Happy Motor City Pride from the Chevrolet family. This Ad is featuring the newest edition to their family, an electric car. This ad runs deep in the American society we live in today. Electric cars just like homosexuals have been around for over 100 years and both have been neglected by society throughout history. This Ad is a celebration of “Coming out” a new age of progressive cars and people alike. Back in our history Detroit was once called the worlds automotive center it was the birthplace of GM. This car company has a strong background with selling generations of cars, keeping up with what people want more of or less of, giving us things we didn't know was possible or didn't think of yet to ask for it, having an ad promoting the acceptance, understanding, being a pioneer of society standing up for the values we should keep with us and not lose them just because the inside of things aren't like the outside you've become comfortable with seeing. Having an Ad that shows support to a community ungrasped by society with a car that is also ungrasped by society is a bold statement. Luckily they use humor in the Ad by the way the went about the placement of cars and saying “Mom,Dad, I'm Electric. The color purple was also a great choice, when looking at an Ad every detail has a meaning and in this Ad the purple background symbolizes power and ambition. Purple also associates itself with dignity, creativity, independence and homosexuality. Like that color the act of “coming out”shows your dignity. The moment those words leave your lips telling a person that loves you since you were born that you're gay and not knowing the reaction you can get is a terrifying battle inside yourself anything is possible, you may not have a family anymore, a place to sleep, to call home, you may lose a brother or sister, best friends, all friends.
