Immigrants Affected Their Identity In Blaxicans And Mother Tongue

Identity is how people identify you and can tell who you are as a person. Immigrants are people who migrate to a different country. Samuel P. Huntington once said, “ Immigrants pose a challenge to our policies and our identity in a way nothing else has in the past.” Huntington is suggesting that immigrants are making it difficult for the American people who are trying to find out who they are as a person.
This can be seen in Richard Rodriguez’s argument “Blaxicans” and Amy Tan’s essay “Mother Tongue” because they both talk about how immigrants have affected their identity by giving anecdotes about their life. For example, Rodriguez says that because he lived in a Chinese community, he considered himself Chinese, he considers China his home
