The Roman Empire had their own set of gods they believed in, and wanted no part of Christianity (Duiker and Spielvogel 2016, 150). Constantine came into power directly after what was known as the Great Persecution by Emperor Diocletian. This was around the third century, and was one of the worst persecutions the Christians had to go through. No Emperor had ever allowed the Christian religion to spread into the Empire before Constantine. The main reason Constantine started to worship Jesus Christ and be a part of the Christian religion was because of a conversation he had with God called, Constantine’s Conversation. Constantine’s Conversation happened in a dream of his, in which he talked to God and God told him to fight with Christian beliefs in his mind and he will win. This dream came before a political, military fight between Constantine and Maxentius, in which Constantine won. This pushed Christian beliefs into Constantine, which ushered Christianity into the Empire (“Christianity and the Roman Empire” 2011). Constantine’s Conversation was very important to Christianity, and had a major political impact on Christianity. Without Constantine, it would have been a lot harder of a path to make the Christian Religion a major belief system. Since Constantine allowed the Christian belief to be taught in the Roman Empire, it allowed the religion to spread all over Rome and be taught and learned by many more people (“Christianity and the Roman Empire” 2011). After Constantine got Christianity up and running in the Roman Empire, there were many debates or counsels in Rome about the religion, which pushed new ideas into the faith and took false beliefs
