It was back on August 24, 1995 at 9; 07 am when I brought into this world by Maria White-Dumas and Stanley. Their first born child then a minute later my twin popped out. Since that day I have been here in Atlanta, GA where I reside at 1978 Phillips Drive. There on my parents have made two additions to our family; my 15 year old brother Jahmal and my 12 year old brother Chris. I can honestly say my family is the greatest thing in the world. My mom is a Purchasing Agent for United Distributors, and my dad is an ISS teacher at King Middle School and South Atlanta High School’s Head Baseball and Softball coach. And with a family of all boys and crazy different personalities I have much respect for my parents for continuing to love us and put up with us. Then you have to move on……

My significant event is about my sixth grade trip to the Woodlands. It was right before the school day started, and the sky was blue and clear. After everyone was accounted for, it was a brief bus ride up the road to the Woodlands. Although I was nervous about going, that all went away because it was a beautiful day to bask in the woods, and socialize. The first day we were there, we were initiated, and we had to create woodsey nicknames for ourselves. We all hung out together outside the Mess Hall and enjoyed the sun.…

An event I've experienced that was life changing was when I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. It was an affirmation of years of disciplined work and study to have such a prestigious honor bestowed upon me. In scouting, I developed various moral and ethical tenants that have shaped my foundation in life. Tenants like integrity, honor, reverence, faith in God, a man's role and his responsibility to his family, and a nearly innumerable quantity of experiences growing under the leadership of the Boy Scouts of America have molded me into who I am today in my very core of being. The realization of my dream to become an Eagle Scout took 11 years to obtain, so I'm no stranger to adversity or perseverance. To my memory,…

The first event that I choose was graduating high school. The reason I choose this event and experience is because no one in my family had ever graduated high school. My mother, father, nor my brother ever got a high school education. Although, my mother and father never married I can remember them both saying that they didn’t finish high school. My father got a GED but my mother still to this day doesn’t have either a high school diploma or GED. My brother just quit school at the age of 17 and took to the streets. So this was very important ordeal for me. I can also remember other family members say that I wasn’t going to graduate high school or I would come up pregnant while in high school because my circumstances was different than everyone in the family. I proved them all wrong and graduated high school without becoming pregnant and most of the one’s that was downing me their kids ended up pregnant in high school and didn’t graduate high school.…

It took forever for my dad to return from war. I missed him so much, especially during the holidays. When my dad came back to the States, I thought that things would be better and that our family would be whole again. Two years later, my parents got divorced. My dad was suffering from PTSD and fell into addiction. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression while my mother was trying her best to raise us on her own and earn her master's degree. I felt that my whole life was falling apart in front of me. These struggles have made me who I am. I have learned to be more compassionate towards…

When my sisters and I first came to the United States I had trouble understanding American English. Though we had been taught English in our school in the camp we were not prepared to learn in a completely English environment in a completely new culture. The transition was quite a challenge for us, not to mention starting well into the second half of the school year, but we pressed through and managed to get good grades.…

The most important time in history for me was moving to a new country from my homeland, India. I could still remember that feeling I had experienced when my father had told me we were moving to America. I was devastated and enlightened at that time. I knew it was a bad idea right of the batch because I was already in 9th grade, I had all of my friends, family and my life planed. The most memorable event in my life was when we moved out from Russia to a country that changes lives and is known as a dream land called the United States of America. When we sat on the airplane that was going toward the United States in August of 2004, we knew our lives are going to be changed in the way we always wanted them to. After twelve years of not going to school and being discriminated by Russian citizens, this moving to a new country was the most amazing, not just in my life generally, but for my entire family as well.…

A big event that has changed my life was when my older brother moved away to go to the navy. This changed my life cause I did not know if I was ever going to see him again. When he told me he was leaving and not going to be back for awhile i thought he was leaving because of me, I was a little brat back then so yeah and at the age i was i thought everything was my fault. The day my brother left was probably the saddest thing to ever happen because me and him would always hang out and play video games or walk around town or do something fun. I remember when we dropped him off at the airport i was clinched on to his leg and i was refusing to let go because I didn’t want him to leave. Now that i look back on it i think one of the reasons why i didn’t want him to leave is because he was kinda like my best friend/ role model so yeah and well he is my older brother and I didn’t want anything to happen to him.…
