Call The Cops:
Before you do anything else--- other than get yourself out of your car if you are in danger--- call the cops. You will need an accident report if you end up going to court. This will show the impairment of the other
person, who was at fault for the wreck. You also ensure emergency help is on the way by calling the cops.
Take Photos:
Take as many photos as possible of your car, the other person’s car and the road. This evidence might come in handy during a case. Of course, only get photos if you can safely do so.
Write Down Everything:
Make sure you write down the license plate of the other car, and the other driver’s insurance information. Also ask any witnesses who are standing around for their information. Make sure you have a good way to contact them. Their testimony might be important if you have to go to court to get compensation. It’s also a good idea to write down what happened, in your own words. You probably assume you will remember the event, but you will forget some details. These details might be the difference between a successful case and one that doesn’t get anywhere. So, make sure you document for yourself what happened. (Don’t give these notes to anyone but your lawyer.)
