Most people overlook the intention, value and impact of a board game designed for learning. Board games are more than just entertainment. We all have grown up playing multiple board games around us and all of them have taught us a lot of things about life and other happenings around us. Board games have a have a more defined purpose than just play and interaction. This paper presents the true value and purpose of board games in the educational sphere and the capabilities to facilitate rapid learning and retention in school.

Board games are life, learning and laughter packaged in a little box. Whether the game is one of chance or strategy, life lessons and social skills come into play with the mere throw of the dice.
Educational Board games help us in maintaining our physical and intellectual development. Games have the ability to make us think more logical and critical thinking. They also help us with reasoning things out. Attention skills, the ability to concentrate and focus for longer periods of the time. Young children can learn and enhance basic skills in the casual and friendly atmosphere of a game.
Even though a whole new world of amazingly enriching and engaging board games has opened up since we were children, most of us are not even aware of them. These new age board games have the capacity to drive you gasping with not only the variety of options but also the range of essential life skills that they help the players to imbibe. Skills ranging from very basic functional skills to the complex higher order thinking skills, and that too without the use of any content based learning
