Importance Of Ppe

As a support worker we wear PPE through out the day but especially at times during personal care, this provides a barrier of body fluids such as sweat which will prevent infection. Gloves and aprons must be worn when support staff are carrying/emptying clinical waste, this will prevent infection coming into contact with my body and clothes. Staff must always change PPE during different tasks and people they are supporting, this will prevent cross contamination. When new staff join the team they must always be shown where to find PPE and also reminded when to wear it, always lead by example and be a good role model. PPE does not tend to be different in many care settings, the PPE you could find in my services are as follows-
