Why I agree with him is because happiness is great but there are many downsides, and that is why people turn out to be unhappy. As Thomas Carlyle said, “happiness our being’s end and aim’ is at the bottom…”. As people get their hopes up for something, and if it does not work out, then people become unhappy. What do people do to become happy? “Those who are happy, who have their minds fixed on some subject other than their own happiness; on the happiness of others, on the improvement of mankind, even on some art or pursuit, followed not as a means, but as itself an ideal end. Aiming this at something else they find happiness by the way.” This quote from Mills, makes a person think about what they have not done to become happy. Mills said try something new. Something someone has a passion for is great. From personal experience, doing something new gives someone a new path you can say, within accomplishing it, and knowing you have beaten it, then that is good satisfaction.
