The book "in the family" relates to my family's in a couple of ways just no one in my family is that selfish to go and get themselves killed. The reason it relates to me and my family is because we have kept secrets that are not worth keeping but we keep them anyway. Whether i t is from people o thers or from each other. This relates to the book by the following. One is that the family quotes that "let the house burn as long as no one sees the smoke" meaning that it is their secret and no one needs to know about it. Another way is that Clara was selfish and said some stupid things. Another thing it relates to is that everyone has their own secrets that they don't want anyone to know about the mirror. The mirror has their dead relatives the mirror that are living on the other side. The family says "let the house burn as long as no one sees the smoke. This relates to the topic sentence because they are making decisions about the mirror. Another example is that Clara decides to put the mirror in the dining room so they all can sit at in the same room and have dinner. The author of the story uses symbols in her story “In the Family” to convey the theme of pride and sometimes obstructs one’s ability to make wise decisions.
