McBride Financial Services is concerned about the cost, security and the approach to be used in both sharing and accessing data by customers, employees, contractors and business partners via the internet or intranet. There is an obvious need for the company to allow all types of users the ability to interact virtually with the company, while maintaining a high level of data security. On the other hand, is giving customers easy access to the domain name, that web address that directs users to a specific location on a web server that allows users full access to the information and facilities shared by the company. A non simplistic analysis of what is required, will demonstrate the procedures and processes involved in installing, then configuring a web server in a network. McBride Financial must consider just how critical the intranet will be for its daily operations, and appropriate it. Outsourcing the hosting of the website for internet access is by far more economical than assuming the cost to purchase and maintain a web server for internet access. McBride Financial concerns must realize and accept that intranet services extended to employees, contractors, and business partners will require in most instances applications, databases, and web page content loaded on a web server. The concern associated with employees reliance on the intranet for Web based business applications, is best rectified by using a backup server or even a networked server cluster that share responsibilities.
