Teaching must be one of the hardest jobs out there. I can only imagine how
frustrating it must be when a teacher tries so hard, but the student still doesn’t understand the lesson. I definitely know what it feels like to be the student who is trying so hard to understand, but still doesn’t get what the teacher is trying to say. Luckily, information technologies of today are providing new ways for teachers to improve a student’s understanding. Information technology has an important role to play in our schools, and I would like to see it used more in our classrooms.

Outside of school, our lives are filled with technology such as smart phones,
computers, television, and the internet. Today’s students have gotten used to the rapid pace and the many ways that information comes to them. They are eager to have this technology in the classroom. But opponents say that this kind of technology doesn’t have a place in the classroom because students can’t process or evaluate the information fast enough. They also say that it is changing the quantity and quality of face-to-face interaction. I think they imagine a bunch of anti-social teenagers sitting in a class, each one glued to their smart phone. I understand their point of view, but I think they are ignoring the possibilities that this technology has for education.

Students have different learning styles from one another. Some are better at
receiving information through reading, listening, watching, or writing. It is even better when multiple ways are used to teach. Information technology gives teachers the ability to present lessons in more ways than ever and better accommodate the learning styles of more students.

Information technology is just one more tool for a teacher, like white boards and
textbooks. Examples of this technology that I believe are appropriate for the classroom
are smart boards, and tablets or laptops. With smart boards, teachers can guide
students
