To counter with what a great number of people think, riding and showing horse is hard work; considering that you are working with a 1,200 pound animal. The long nights and early mornings, the pressure we put ourselves under and being able to communicate with our horse is a lot of work. Being lazy is not a characteristic for a horse person. You must have a good work ethic because the work required is heavily dependent on you. When you belong to a horse community the way you talk and act reflect on that. A true horse person can not last one whole day without talking about something that is horse related. When someone takes care of their horse and puts them before themselve, that proves they the belong to there. Never complaining about how early we have to be at the barn, how tough our lesson was, or not waning to do something work related proves that they belong. There are no guidelines on how we should act at the horse barn or horse show, its more based on your common sense. There are however unspoken but enforced rules. These rules included not having an attitude, cleaning up after yourself, knowing your pattern, and making sure you and your horse are prepared. These rules are enforced through our trainers. If you do not follow them they will bot help you because you are not putting in the work and do not want to win so bad
