Perpetrators of child abuse or neglect are most often the child’s own parents and 30% of children abused will engage in some form of child abuse with regard to their own children. That's surprising because even though these people know what it's like to be abused and all the pain they went through that they do it to their own children anyways. 90% of child abusers were known by their victims; within this statistic, upwards of 65% were named as family members of the victim (Facts About Child Abuse). These people are suppose to be people that these children can trust but instead they are people that they have to fear.
