The play “Instant” written by Erin Shields is about 3 friends named Meredith (Michelle Rambharose), Jay (Dakota Jamal Wellman), and Rosie (Leah Fong). Meredith is trying to become a YouTube star through her singing. Jay is an active hockey player who also plays for a rep team and has strong hopes to become a player in the NHL. Rosie is trying to raise money for her dad who had been diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Rosie raised money by singing her own songs and hoping people will donate to her cause.

For example, the fight scene between Jay and an opposing hockey player had suspenseful music playing in the background as well as the lighting which was brighter than I had seen throughout the whole play and was mainly focused on Jay, this caused me to get pulled straight into this incredibly dramatic scene. The costume design was great at making the actors look like teenagers working their way to the positions they dream of having even with a few struggles on the way. During the scene where Meredith was bitterly reacting to how many views Rosie’s video was getting, I felt as if the eyes that popped up in the background were a little unnecessary even if i knew that the eyes were supposed to represent the amount of different people from all over the world watching her video. However there were moments where I wished that the actors could have had a few more props because whenever Jay went to play hockey he would wear the same thing he would in any other
