Interduction Monologue
We waited a little bit, I heard Mrs. Hall announce us and the curtain went up. Mrs. Hall had Mrs. Austin give a pitch and Mercury began with his solo I thought it was really good. Then basses came in I was shocked a little bit. I could tell it was loud enough for the audience to hear. The tenors came in I was praying I wouldn’t mess up. I was trying to remember not to have a dull, terrified look on my face. I was trying I thought everything was going well. Also I had to turn on my candle.

O Come, O Come Emmanuel went well I thought, I was doing fine until Mrs. Hall had told Mrs. Austin to start the piano for Gloria Deo. I had started before everyone else but it was really quiet. I hoped people just thought I was coughing. I know I had

I know when I was singing I had a terrified look on my face. It went good for a little while until I heard someone singing the wrong part. That just threw me off balance with the beat. Then in the end of the song the tenors have one line by themselves and I messed up. It felt really bad I messed it up but it didn’t mess up the song so it was not horrible. The orchestra was great it seemed like they were good at letting us sing above them.

Then was Mister Snow’s Shoes which Anthony always complained about. It went well I thought but next was Ubi Caritas. The song Mrs. Hall said that was going to make or break the concert. So I was terrified again. Mrs. Hall was making faces during the songs before sometimes to let us loosen up a bit. Ubi Caritas went okay but some people messed up like me. I was glad most of the time I stayed on pitch though. So yeah for me!

After that we had Winter Wonderland which was one I really liked all the seniors went down off the risers. They said who they were and sang the first part then rest came in. I had to remember the change in the lyrics after the repeat. I did the right part, thank you Jesus I was saying in my head. All the seniors came back up, We began Ave

The homecoming musical performed this year, in the Shaw Center Auditorium, was Little Shop of Horrors. Being part of the crew, gave me the opportunity to see the play grow from rehearsing on an empty stage, to what was presented on opening night. However, I only had one opportunity to seat in the audience and see the entire play on Thursday, September 19th. Not knowing much about the play before that night, I was very surprised about everything that happened. Everyone I thought was important ended up dead, and I wasn’t expecting that. But I really liked it, because it had that surprise factor that made me jump off my seat a couple of times. Also, it was well structured, making it easy to understand what led to every situation and the characters gave live to every scene making the musical exciting and funny, which kept me interested until the end.…

The fourth through eighth grade choristers enter onto the risers on the stage in organized rows, hands at their sides, shoulders back and aligned with nervous smiles across their faces. This is the students first time being adjudicated The auditorium is full of other students, teachers, and adjudicators from around the city ready to hear the product of weekly after school rehearsals throughout the school year. The chorus director looks around the auditorium and counts five former music instructors and the nostalgia of being that fourth-eighth grader on stage with those instructors floods the director's mind. She smiles, bows to the audience, turns, and gives a reassuring thumbs up to the bright, developing musicians in front of her.…

Overall, I enjoyed my attendance at the concert choir held at Benedictine University. The show was well done and I could tell that the members of the choir worked very hard in preparation. Although there were eight songs, the concert went by fairly quick. There was only one baby grand piano in the middle of the stage, but other than that, it was interesting to see that no other instruments were used except for their own voices and they were able to project an excellent performance for the…

Thankfully, George didn't seem to be mad at me. He didn't seem to be mad at me at all. We were both beside the brush far away from the ranch, infront of a vast river. Across the river was the Gabilan mountain range, which reminded me of the rabbits that I would soon be able to tend with George. I asked him to tell me about the other guys an' about us, like he's done before. Then I asked him to tell me how it's gonna be in the future, at our farm. I love it when he talks about the farm, and the way he describes it is so dreamy. Once again, it felt as if I fell into a deep trance by George's words; I could imagine all the rabbits and the alfalfa, the cows, pigs, and chickens.. All in our very own farm where we have our own freedom. As George…

I thought I would immediately rush the stage and began belting out the tunes of the song, amazing the audience with my brilliant monologue. Reality quickly set in. It seems I was rather naïve to think this way because before I could do perform, there was much work to be done. For starters, I had to rehearse and practice my lines over and over until I memorized them. This was not easy since I had to absorb the essence of the message behind every line of my monologue. “Was I expressing the correct emotions? Was I angry or was I expressing a joyous emotion?” There were doubts that crossed my mind. Before I could sing “Heart,” I had to participate in vocal warm-ups making sure to carry out every note clearly, making sure to carefully…

Instead of having a terrible time, it was the best time I had all summer. Little did I know, this would be an event I couldn’t wait to return to the next summer. I signed up for keyboard and on the first day, everyone played a song to determine what band they would be in. I immediately thought I was the worst one there. At the end of the day, they asked if anyone would be interested in singing backup and I didn’t even think about doing it. I thought it would be terrible.…

I loved the way the man effortlessly leaped about the stage. It seemed as if all he did was effortless yet beautiful, and I was able to easily understand what he was trying to convey. My least favorite piece was “When We Fly”. I was able to understand that the dancers were attempting to portray birds, but I felt it was slightly jumpy; as one dancer would leave the stage, another would come back with enough time for an awkward moment to pass. There were many solos and group parts, and though it was interesting, I felt it was a little choppy and in that, it made me uncomfortable to…

When the day of the recital came, I was ‘nervcited’: a perfectly even mixture of nervousness and excitement. I walked into the middle school and saw that the people who were playing piano had to sit in the first two rows of seats. Each seat had a name on it in alphabetical order. My teacher came on stage and began the show with a funny introduction to the first act. By the third act, I was sick of waiting! It was nerve-wracking to watch the others play, and sometimes mess up. When Ms. Crossman finally called my name, I thought I was going to puke! I timidly walked down the aisle and up to the piano on the stage.…
