Internal And External Factors Leading To The Fall Of The Roman Empire

Before the fall of the roman empire, it first became divided into the east and the west and was run by several different leaders. I think that the fall of the Roman empire was related to several different issues. Those issues were both internal and external. One of the reasons for the fall of the Roman empire was a decline in morals. People began to not worry so much about standards. They began to be promiscuous, gamble and drink excessive amounts of alcohol. They behaved very inappropriately. Another reason for the fall of the Roman empire was simply the failing economic status. The unemployment rate went up and due to lack of a job, many were faced with receiving hand outs from the government. These are some of the internal factors that
contributed to the fall of the roman empire. There were also some factors that contributed to the fall of the roman empire that were external such as earthquakes, plagues, fire, wars, and street fights. One of the main external features that contributed to the fall of the roman empire was the invasion of the barbarians. The barbarians had earlier educated themselves on the roman military tactics. They used this against them during the invasion. I think that the fall of the roman empire was due to both an internal and external issues. There are several things that I saw that could have been changed or done differently, but there are also those things that no one could have saw coming that they couldn’t help. I'm leaning more towards an internal conflict being the main cause of the fall of the roman empire more so than an external conflict simply because I think that the severity could have been lessened had it not been for some of the unnecessary internal conflict.
