“After decades of steady growth, the number of international adoptions has dropped nearly fifty percent since 2004.”Out of all of the adoptions, international adoptions are the most complicated and the most expensive of all (Interlandi web). Over the years, international adoption has reduced significantly because of the rising regulations. China and Russia as well as others are extremely strict when it comes down to this, the reason being that child trafficking is very high in these countries (Voight and Brown web). So, to prevent this from happening regulations has increased. On an interview Voight and Brown did, there was a case in which a person was trying to adopt a child from China. This was back in 2007 and she is still currently waiting, her estimated date is about 2017. It is a very, very long process but it is worth waiting for to provide these kids
It is beneficial to the person getting adopted and to the people adopting. “Fifteen percent of transracially adoptive parents move to more ethnically diverse neighborhoods after adopting” (Interlandi web). This helps create more of a diverse society. Helps us interact with different types of races, and adapt to other types of people. It is also important for the kids to know where they came from and how they got to the place where they now currently are. Going back to the show Modern Family, the little girl was living with her gay parents, but the issue was that she did not know anything about her culture. She did not know what Vietnam was until later on they explained to her. It is also seen that the girl is from Vietnam but she is being raised by a gay white couple. Among that family there is also a hispanic that is married to the girl's grandfather. In Haiti there are many, many children that are awaiting to get adopted.
