Technology today has changed the scope of a successful interview. A successful interview contains five key components; knowledge of the importance of an interview, preparation of questions, appropriate dress, interview etiquette, and history of interviews.
An interview is considered the most important part of the hiring process. Why do we have interviews? Before accepting applications for a position, businesses have a list of qualifications each applicant must meet in order to fill the open position. They then begin to weed out applications that do not fit their qualifications. From there they begin the interviewing process (employment). The hiring process provides “could be “employees with their best opportunity to inquire about various aspects of the company’s operations and expectations. Most interviews will last between 30-60 minutes. This gives the interviewer enough time to evaluate the applicant and make a wise decision. They use interviews to determine a person’s personality and to answer any last minute questions that were not asked on the application (Doody). Not only are the interviewers looking for someone with certain qualifications, but also someone who has a good personality. The interview is the most important part of the hiring process. It gives life to your application. It also gives you a chance to correct any mistake you may have made on the application or explain any issues at hand. Interviews provide the opportunity also for you to decide if the atmosphere is some place you would feel comfortable with if hired.
