“I now walk into the wild, might be very a long time before I come back” Sometimes a character may be pushed over the edge by our materialistic society to discover their true roots. Chris McCandleess leaves all his possessions and begins a trek across the Western United States, which eventually brings him to the place known as Alaska. In the book Into the Wild the main character Chris McCandless had changed his name to Alex Supertramp. Although Alex did some questionable and unusual things, he was sane. Alex was a role model to all; he was well educated and highly respected by everyone who knew him. Christopher McCandless came from a rich suburb of Washington D.C. He excelled in school and had been an outstanding athlete during his educational years. Alex graduated with honours and soon after he dropped out of sight unheard of from the average citizen’s he knew. During Alex’s younger years he managed to save up a life savings of twenty-four thousand dollars. This was to go to his University fund. While making the decision of his lifetime he ended up giving his twenty-four-thousand dollar savings account to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, and burned all of the cash in his wallet. He desired to live off of the land and to travel across the great North America.
Chris McCandless had one extraordinary life. He was a man with no limits. Alex was one who showed that life can be taken to the top and expressed in different ways. Many In one aspect, you could say that he is a wild man, and that he never truly lives life to the fullest. It could be said that him dying for such a meaningless point was a waste of a lifetime and that it showed how naive he truly was about life itself. Chris McCandless affects so many lives, all positively. Everyone has a positive experience with this young man. Although he was young, he had the wisdom of such an older and mature man.
