In this paragraph I will tell you why I believe the author has control over his own life up to a certain point.
In the context of this passage the author is telling that time he got sent to Nepal to write about a guided ascent of the famous Mount Everest. In the passage he is speaking to the reader.
“In March 1996, Outside Magazine sent me to Nepal to participate in, and write about, a guided ascent of Mount Everest.” (Pg. XV)
In the month of March in the year 1996, Jon Krakauer, was sent on a guided expedition to climb Mount Everest in Nepal.
My quote is an example of my thesis because it shows that the author was sent to Nepal to write about the ascent of Mount Everest.
All in all I believe that the author has control of his life until he puts his life in the hands of a guide who will take him and other people to the summit of Mount Everest.
“I believe that the author had control over his life until he took the job of writing an article about the event and experience of climbing Mount Everest offered to him by Outside Magazine.
People might say that he still had control over his life completely while climbing Mount Everest, but when you put your life in the hands of someone else, they take the most control over your life, just as Jon Krakauer had done in the book Into Thin Air.
