My Dad, is by far the nicest person I know. Whenever I see him, he is always in a good mode, always asks how I am, what I did that day, all the normal stuff. But that still means alot to me that someone will ask that every single day. My Dad shows this same type of respect to everyone he knows (which it seems like he literally knows everybody). No matter if its me or one of his clients, or a stranger that he just met, he treats everyone the same. This is a part of his personality that I really admire and try to mimic.
My Dad has always believed that you should, how he says it, “Do what you love,” in terms of a career that is. For those of you that don’t know, my Dad is a custom clothier, which is basically a suit salesmen. When my Great Great Grandfather moved here from Germany in the late 19th century, he and his brother opened a clothing store. That started a family tradition that lasted until my Dad and my Grandfather decided to close the store in 1996- 98 years after it originally opened. After that, my Dad still wanted to be in the suit business so he started his own business that he still runs today. He has told me over the years that at the time he could have become a banker, or a different type of salesmen, however, he still wanted to sell suits and over time has created a respectable business at the least. My Dad works hard to run the business but he has always said, “If you do what you love then it isn’t really work.”
For me, as everyone already knows by now, I want to be a sports journalist. Different people have told me not to because of low pay, long hours, and hard work, but my Dad is one of the many people that have encouraged me
