In fact the Ray's team didn't know the fact, if you're a time-reverse camera you could go back to the last time the invisible flea robot explosion spot inside the forest. After it exploded the fragments scattered on the dirt, one of the invisible objects kicked the circuit-board forward where no other objects or watchers knew.
