Holograms
Long before phone text and email were invented, Princess Leia used holographic message to ask help from Obi-Wan Kenobi. While we still can’t use that technology to send message, John Pepper invented an old stage trick to show people how Tupac Shakur used to look …show more content…
like at the Coachella music festival in 2012.
Speeders
Remember the massive floating transportation Luke was driving before selling it to back his trip to Alderaan?
The hoverbikes, which was known as “speeder” at the film Star Wars, was the less theoretically troublesome mode of vehicle. A number of firms are trying to create the working version of the speeders. One of them is Aerofex. The California-based startup has developed the Aero-X vehicle, describing it as "a hovercraft that rides like a motorcycle." It can fly at 72 km/h up to 3 meters off the ground.
Bionic Limbs
Who can forget the scene where Darth Vader cut off Luke’s hand with his lightsaber? The space technology might not be able to solve the father-son issue, but it could successfully provide him a slick new bionic limb.
Now, there are some companies working to develop artificial limb. One of them is Touch Bionic. Its i-Limb Pulse bionic hand can read the electric pulse in patient’s arm and then transforms the signals into finger movement.
Battle Droids
Ever-present feature of “Star Wars” universe. Those battle robots were super handy for sparing human lives in war, as well as offered great targets for jedis with extremely superior combat skill. Now, our military has “BigDogs,” remote controlled robots that can navigate difficult terrain on its animl type …show more content…
legs.
Friendly Droids
There would be no “Star Wars” fan that doesn’t fall in love with R2-D2, C-3PO or BB8.
Instead of being just cute and funny, those robots were also the faithful sidekicks across the entire movie
series.
Created in 2000, Honda’s Asimo is the most notable friendly droid. It can cope with stairs, recognize objects and faces, and can interact with humans.
Lightsabers
It’s impossible to talk about “Star Wars” without discussing lightsaber. It’s one of the most iconic weapons that can cut through anything with a single swing of colored light. However, physicists and scientists say lights can never stay frozen in space, so it’s almost impossible to create such a weapon. But, when it comes to light-based weapon, all isn’t lost yet. Scientists have developed an Airborne Laser that’s a 747 and has been altered to throw a continuous beam of light.
Technology showed in Star Wars movies had never failed to amaze us, even after 40 years. While there are some gadgets are now available in real-life form, some of them are still far-fetched. However, the way technology is booming, you may not wait long to see most of the technologies, and all if lucky.
May the luck be with you!
