The Iran-Iraq war was a brutal war that eradicated thousands of lives. Some say that “ It was a big mistake” or “wasn’t meant to be.” Both sides argued their own perspective, in a matter that they were more accurate than the other, or that even it wasn’t their fault. They merely believed that it was each other who were accountable for the war. Iran and Iraq had always been old rivals; some could have even said that they were like “God or satin.” Particularly, they would dispute over land masses or even small amounts such as borders. The Iran-Iraq war was a grieving event that reformed Iraq and Iran’s bond through bloodshed and warfare.
Before the war started the Iraqis had a new dictator in line. Saddam Hussein was his name, he was a greedy, strong man who wanted more and more. He was the fifth president of Iraq. He was a cruel leader who killed his own people to get his own dire need. According to the individuals in Iraq he was a “hated man.” While he was dictator he had pushed to expand his territory. When he turned to take over Iran, Iran was outraged by this decision and decided to push into war. Iraq not only attacked Iran for geographic reasons but religious reasons as well. Religion involves various points of views, and both of the countries have had a history of having different points of view. Iraq also blamed Iran too in the war. As the war grew near Iraq had allies that helped them. It explains in a quote, the reasons of why Iraq was allied; “ Iraq's support came primarily from the Gulf states, which that viewed Iran as the greater danger to their security. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait each provided billions of dollars in loans and grants. Egypt and Jordan provided some weapons and supplies.
