Adults can make big mistakes. One of the quotes in the book Lord of the Flies shows irony by saying “I wish my father was here …Oh, what’s the use?” (94) Piggy is probably thinking that the adults would be good help when things were going wrong. I notice this because Piggy seems like he is saying that if his dad was there then the fire they tried to have in the beginning would still be working and not have to be remade. Then things ‘ud be all right-”(94) This can be irony because the kids could be wrong when saying “Then things ‘ud be all right-” since things may not be alright all the time.(94) The author William Golding shows well with quotes that the adults can do things well without mistakes “The three boys stood in the darkness, striving unsuccessfully to convey the majesty of adult life.” (94) This quote is an irony since the author is probably trying to show them just thinking about the benefits they could have had if there were adults with them but I think probably even adults are not perfect too.
