Rights and Responsibilities
Islam is the law for all Muslims - the same rule for the ruler as for the ruled. For the sake of argument many of these moral rules can be phrased in terms of rights and responsibilities when we consider who is involved. For example the duty to consult people on who should be the next political leader can be put in terms of the right to be consulted. A duty of the husband to provide for the wife can be described as the right of the wife for provisions. It is the responsibility of the ruler of an Islamic state to maintain 5 basic universal rights among the people: life, property, freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, and honour. However, all this is not shown in the media about Islam therefore, others only hear about the violent aspects regarding corrupted terrorist groups.

I can link this issue to the theme power, politics and the media because at the moment there are many Muslim countries that have power-hungry leaders. This has caused those countries to be politically challenged; examples of this are Syria, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt. Islam and the media coursework
