Similarities: Some of the things that these two religions have in common are, they both are monotheism, both think that all religions are equal, and both have an place to worship. Sharing what you have with those that are less fortunate. Islam 5 pillars are, 1. Testament that there is one god and Muhammad is his messenger. 2. Prayers 5x daily. 3. Fast during Ramadan. 4. Charity to the poor. 5. Pilgrimage. These two religions also think that all religions are equal to each other. Some Muslims though think that there religion is the greatest. They also places of worship all over the world. Muslims have the Mosque/Masjid and the Sikhs have the Gurdwara.
Differences: With similarities, there also comes differences.
Some of the difference include how the religion was spread, place of origin, goals of religion, God’s role and life after death. Sikhism was spread throughout india by 10 gurus. The first guru, Guru Nanak dev ji was the founder is sikhism. He Went around india preaching to worship one god. Islam consisted of individuals who believes of Allah, a deity whose teachings its followers. Sikhism originated in Punjab. Islam originated in Arabian peninsula. The goals of Sikhism were to have the greatest relationship with God possible, to love and obey God and to not be afraid of God's wrath but instead be afraid of not receiving the full benefits of God's love. Islam’s goal was to fulfill gift and responsibility of this life through following the guidance of Holy Quran and Hadith, striving to serve mankind through compassion, justice, trustworthiness, and love for all of God's creation. God’s role in the islamic religion was, you were judged according to your efforts to do good and avoid sinful behaviours. God’s role in Sikhism was that God is generous and loving. Mankind will reincarnate until he becomes an Sikh and achieves paradise. Life after death for sikhs is that there is a constant cycle of reincarnation until enlightenment is reached. Life after death for Islam is that you will be rewarded for every atom’s of weight of good and punishment for evil.
Now my religion will always be sikhi but in the end all religions are equal. It doesn't matter if you’re Sikhi, Islamic, Christian, Hindu, etc. All religions are the same in the end. In this essay we discussed the similarities & differences between Sikhi and Islam. Even though there looks like there is more differences in these two religions than similarities, they actually have lots more in common. If i had put all of the similarities in this essay it would have been 2-3 pages
long.
