Collaboration technologies to help people or organizations involved in the same fields of operations. Collaborative software avails communication tools to groups working together but in different geographical locations. The technologies include project management functions such as task assignments, time managing deadlines and shared calendars.
Isuzu Australia limited has integrated the collaboration technologies into their daily operations to improve their communication systems both internally and externally. The main reason as to why Isuzu Australia decided to use collaboration software was to improve communication between them their dealers and the company’s partners, allowing all parties to involved in the operating to have access to timely information thus increasing efficiency in their daily activities.
In their road to collaborating success, the company chose the Web sphere Portal as the platform of their online portal and the web content management to manage their online activities. According to Aninka Morhall the staff operations manager Isuzu Australia, "the company chose the two online portal and web content management platforms because they brought to the table the best solution that had the ability of meeting the company’s needs than other alternative solutions present in the market of collaboration technologies." Extra collaborative components also came with the two chosen solution to influence the reasons behind the firm picking these alternatives. The organization too was a long time user of the Lotus Notes systems and after years of service a common base was found where the services provided by Lotus Notes would seamlessly integrate with the existing technology platform at Isuzu Australia limited.
