1) The type of network I would use in this particular situation. I would first start off with recommending a high speed broadband provider such as in my area Either EPB or Comcast for connectivity. I would also start with a wireless router to allow wireless connectivity at the office itself. Depending on the type of business and what they would do production wise I would also recommend a VPN to allow offsite business with access to the files based off of needs of the individual employee. For this business a simple LAN would suffice their needs with simple usage. I would build the Client/Server network for this company. I would also recommend Windows 7 for the office computers. This would allow each user to have their own set of permissions with higher level employees having for instance editing access to certain documents pertinent to their job.
2) Peer to peer networks are also sometimes called work groups depending on the terminology used by the administrator. In a peer to peer network files are shared freely without a central server as a hub for the information. An example of this would be the network that is set up at my house. This uses both my tablet and laptop for instance I can store information on either device but I also have the ability to share information with both devices if they are connected to a wireless router.
3) If the company is set up with multiple locations in different cities I would set up a WAN if the company is set up as a single location then I would recommend a LAN set up. In a client/server environment a client such as a laptop is connected to a server that stores information and files on it. The client, such as a laptop, connects to a server to access the information on that server.
