It's Time To Stop Bullying In America
In America today there is a lot of emphasis placed on the personal liberty of the individual, the rights they have, and what they deserve. While it is not a bad thing, it has caused many youth to grow up thinking that they are more important than the next person. I believe greater emphasis should be placed on what a person owes to other people, to their community, and to their world, than what they deserve to receive. With the great growth of people who only look out for themselves and their needs, there has actually become a larger amount of needs in general. Because those who cannot take care of their own needs, like the elderly, disabled, or those who have experienced a personal tragedy, are left helpless. Instead of focusing on ourselves, …show more content…
Bullying has become an epidemic, and it needs to come to an end. If people will stand up for each other and protect each other, I believe bullying would cease to be effective. It preys on those who do not have the confidence to defend themselves. Often times, the bully hurts others as a way of protecting himself. He believes that if he attacks others, then they will not know he himself is hurting, or has been hurt in the past. It becomes a coping mechanism for him. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that bullying should not be responded to with more violence. They need to be shown love, but firm love. A love that says, “I love you enough to not let you continue down this path. Let me show you another way.” Then you are not only l protecting those that the bully hurts, but also you are protecting the bully himself in the long run. I believe that while individual rights is important, for we all must make our own decisions, the obligations that one owes to others should receive more focus. By taking care of others, looking out for them, and protecting them we will benefit their lives and our

Numerous problems can arise in a society which emphasizes both individual rights and the common good because the two goals are often conflicting in nature. There has been a progression of bullying happening as many may have noticed, in order to be able to get the bullying to stop or to even calm down someone needs to step up and have a talk, or needs to discipline the bullies. Walking down hallways at school, people say mean words, they do not think of other people's feelings as they say the cruel words coming out of their mouths. Mostly, the reasons being why children, and young adults are usually bullying someone may be because they were not disciplined enough as a child, their parents may have not been around to do so, or they may have a rough life at home. The reasoning trying to be stated is the bullying comes from selfish people. A person can tell if somebody else is selfish or not because selfish people tend to block out what others are feeling around them, how their days went, and/or what is going on in their lives. Selfish people do not care about anyone else except for themselves. A selfish person could see somebody with nothing to their name and still not help them because they do not want to do anything for anybody else. Everyone may have a friend or a family member who they may think is a selfish person, as many people may know a person that is selfish do not be afraid to stand up to them and knock them down and tell them what they are doing is wrong. Selfish people are everywhere in todayś society and they do not care if…

Bullying happens when they are not around either of them people and also some kids are too scared to tell their parents because they don’t know how they will act nor do they know if they will stop getting bullied or if it would happen more. The victims of such actions need to understand that they can get out of that situation and also that they can sometimes do it by themselves because being bullied can mess a child up in the long run(Jacobs and McMahon np). The child can become antisocial or become very insecure about themselves, which no child deserves to go through all their lives. Not only do the people that get bullied become very distressed but also the people who witness the action happening can become very uncomfortable and stressed. This isn’t fair to the witnesses either because it can mess with their physical, mental, psychological and social well beings, along with the victim’s well being too. These problems with the victims and witnesses well beings can have a long term effect which isn’t good for either of them (Jacobs and McMahon np). Some of these situations lead to physical threats which are the one of the most common types of bullying. Also, most…

The sad thing is that every 1 in 7 students in each grade are either a bully or has been a victim of bullying. No one has the right to think they anyone is lesser than them. No one has the right to put anyone down. The only way we can deal with bullies is to stand up to them, show them that the way they are treating others is unacceptable, and needs to be changed. Bullies expect that people treat them with respect, but they do not show that to anyone! Bullying is taking over schools, and it needs to be controlled.…

Imagine that you are a thirteen year crying in your bed because you are dreading facing another day at school because you are being bullied. Nowadays, this is more common than ever before. For far too many teens this is a daily reality. According to the ASPCC (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) there are over 160,000 students in America who stay home from school every day because they are fearful of the mental and physical abuse from their classmates (1). The ASPCC defines bullying as a direct attack on a child’s status, sense of belonging and core identity and more times than not leads to low self-esteem (2). 1 out of 4 children are bullied every day (3). Bullying in any shape, form or fashion must be stopped so that our children can have a fighting chance.…

Every high school student in America must navigate through difficult obstacles to procure a diploma. Most of these obstacles are obligatory such as testing and attendance; however, there is one tribulation that is not: bullying. Bullying can be defined in several ways. It is the rude stares in the hallway, inviting someone to the lunch table only to make fun of them, the belittling comments in the classroom, the manipulative manner of a boyfriend or girlfriend, and the “funny” tweets that condemn peers. Most people define bullying in such a cliché manner that the word loses its value; some even consider bullying as a rite of passage that students should have throughout their school years. The permanent psychological or physical disturbance that bullying victims face is enough to see that there is nothing impractical about degrading children at a time in such a substantial time in their lives.…
