especially going to the beach and playing in the sand. His brother, Jaxon, was born only 19 months after Jace, and they have been best friends and partners in crime ever since. Together they grew up loving to ride their bikes and motorcycles, camping, fishing, and skiing with the family.
At a young age, Jace learned to love how to play many sports and was very competitive.
He started with wrestling where he won numerous state of Idaho titles in is weight division. He then played baseball and fell in love with the sport. He started playing on a traveling baseball team, where he won many tournaments and honors in both Utah and Idaho, and continued to love playing with his teammates and coaches. He also loved to play football and basketball. He had many teammates and friends that remember him as the fun-loving, hard-working, competitive leader that he was. He was also actively involved in his church and community where he participated in scouting.
At school, Jace was always a hard-worker and leader. He loved math and reading. He read many novels and books in grade-school and was in the gifted and talented program in the Blackfoot School District. In first grade, he was honored with the Presidential Award for both academic success and leadership. His accomplishments continued throughout middle school where he was honored by being on the National Junior Honor Society High Honor Role. He continued to excel in reading and math, but his least favorite subject was always language and
writing.
He was a very competitive goal oriented young man. He always had the goal to continue to play three sports in high school, including football, basketball, and baseball and he wanted to make the JV or Varsity baseball team as a freshman. He also had a goal to attend college and earn a degree and go on to become an orthopedic surgeon. He also wanted to go on an LDS mission and later be married in the temple.
Jace will always be remembered by those around him as someone who was goal-oriented but at the same time loved life and was optimistic and fun to be around. He never took things too seriously, unless is came to winning at sports, where of course he always wanted to win!
