Jack Stark Leadership
The movie was based on the Robert Penn Warren novel of the same name. The movie featured the role of Jack Burden and about the politician, Willie Stark. The story began through the rise of politician Willie Stark from a rural county seat to the governor’s seat. Based on the movie, Willie Stark enters in politics, worked against the corruption inside the county government, but he loose because of some obstacles brought by the local machine. Then, he learned himself rules and regulations(law) and continued to fight by championing the local people to gain popularity. Although, he loses the first attempt, succeed to become a candidate for governor, and then he won during the second attempt. After he won, he becomes as corrupt as the politicians …show more content…
Willie Stark believed that being a governor, he would use the laws and government through his own will and nobody comes to stop him. Furthermore, the story showed complexed relationships Stark’s campaign assistant, Sadie was madly in love with Stark and wanted him to leave his wife, Lucy. Stark got involved with many women taking his journalist, Jack’s own girlfriend, Anne Stanton, as his mistress. The story also included the up- and-coming journalist who brought Stark to prominence like his reputation was considered bad by Judge Stanton (Anne’s uncle). After Jack found evidence of the judge’s wrong work, he kept secret from Stark. But Anne gave to the Stark against her uncle, who committed suicide. Stark was forgiven by Anne but his brother who saved Stark’s son’s life after the car crash, cannot forgive him. The doctor assassinated Stark after Stark won the impeachment investigation and in turn, the doctor was shot. Stark embraced various corruption which was necessary to combine his powers. At last, the whole story was the rise and fall of a corrupt politician who made his friends richer and retained powers through popular
