James Kudelka's 4 Seasons
The dance piece I’m going to be talking about is the piece “4 Seasons” . The choreographer of the piece is James Kudelka O.C. “4 Seasons,” had many different stories within each season change. Each season had a different story. The season summer was my favourite season, although summer was my favourite season I enjoyed the whole piece, but it sometimes got a little confusing. The summer season had two beautiful dancers named Tiffany Mosher and Chelsey Meiss. Other portions of the summer pice also included other dancer, named Brendan Saye and Emma Hawes.

2. There were many amazing aspects of the piece, from the lighting and backgrounds, to the choreography and the execution the dancer portrayed. However, there were some things I did not

The mood and the atmosphere changed from season to season, each season was different. For instance, the season winter and choreography that went along with it had star and quick movement, similar to when you are cold you wouldn’t walk slow you would keep moving to stay warm. For wine, the mood seemed harsh, they dancers were not smiling, they just kept moving around. Summer is the total opposite of winter. The mood for summer is more happy, excited, and energetic. Although there was only two people on the stage they really portrayed a happy character through their expression and their dancing. The choreography involved jumps , showing the …show more content…
Throughout the whole piece the energy was at the same level. Each dancer moved the same and had the same energy. The qualities within the energy element were also shown and noticed during the piece. For example in the summer season there were a lot of suspension and collapse. There was suspension because the partner work flowed through, whenever one partner would lift the other and bring them down, the guy wouldn’t drop the other dancer down, he would slowly bring her to the floor. And collapse was also noticed at the part where the one partner would fall on the other

Nicole was not only the choreographer of this piece, but she was also a dancer in it. I found this really interesting because I feel like it would be difficult to be in the dance you are choreographing because you are never able to watch it and dance it at the same time to see what is working and what is not working.…

The six dancers move in unison working together to again prove that this work requires everyone’s help, Duato choreographs the dancers to move into a canon working in a linear pattern across the stage to reinforce the work that needs to be done in the fields and how it takes ‘all hands’ to complete this arduous task. The group then pairs up and begins to work in male/female duos. Each duo represents different ages of the group. Starting with the older, more respected elders of the community, their movement is very tender, supportive and loving towards each other. The man lifts the woman tenderly and shows what would be a lifetime of love and support. Their costumes are similar in colour and simplistic in nature to show they are a paired couple and to…

The piece I have decided to critique is called, Fume Fume. The choreography was focused around traditional dance, and was choreographed by Neil Dunn and Julie L. Pentz. From my perspective, I believe they incorporated a lot of African inspired dances and mixed a few Latin inspired moves as well. In which, I believed this connected with Zumba and Latin dancing the most.…

The dance starts in the center of the stage as if they were continuing their conversations and then traveled to upstage in a straight line. The females and males were dancing as a due. Each duet contrasted one another in terms of tempo. The performers traveled in a circular formation with one male standing in the center. The intense dance between the two leads was so heartbreaking yet beautiful. The piece told the story of a man and a women who cared deeply, supporting each other yet now being good enough. The man and the women had dragging movements, carrying and dropping each other showing that they couldn’t survive. At the end, there was a spotlight on the women as she collapsed to the floor with the man standing over her and others gathering around. The male lead sprinkled rose petals over her body, making the story so powerful.…

It was up close and personal. All I could do is reminisce on the discipline of my dance training as I wiggled in my seat with anticipation waiting for the curtain to rise. I could write about the performance from beginning to end, but I choose not to. However, I do want to write about a segment of the performance that evoked a riveting, yet somber mood that struck me to my core. Home. In the first section started on dark stage, only dancer has a spotlight. Music was soft and smooth. We could hear only piano while dancer was walking forward in straight posture with graceful movement. Started with smooth then mixed up with sharp and pedestrian movements. She uses long white scarf on the floor by showing to us hard work. In dance we say ”low” level. For example, she scrubs the floor, uses as a headband representing to carry something. Emotionally sad ness, she worked hard, she contracts in pain, she flutters her hands like captive birds and she tried to get out of struggling life, but she never gives up. There is pain here as well as power, and the music, so oddly modern to me. In…

I could not wait to see my name. My stomach dropped. It wasn’t there. I was sure it had to be a mistake or a typo. I hurried to my director’s office with tears forming in my eyes. “There has to be a mistake,” I said. She told me to sit down then said, “I have seen you dance, and I know you can give me more.” She proceeded to tell me that she had seen me grow up dancing, and would not take anything less than the best. I felt horrible, and even considered quitting the team, but she wouldn’t let me.…
