I think that they can benefit from several community resources mainly online due to the fact that Janine works full time and also need to care for her child. Online resources can help Janine cope with her situation, being a young single parent, taking care of an infant who has feeding problems due to his gastroesophageal reflux. Janine needs to know how to properly end efficiently take care of her child without getting overwhelmed because premature infants can require extra care not just in the hospital setting but at home as well. These resources can help Janine cope, learn and educate herself on what is best for her son Andrew. My nursing diagnosis is Impaired parenting Related to: illness of the infant (gastroesophageal reflux), knowledge deficit, lack of support systems, poor parental guidance or role model, Social and economic factor, stressors. Graham’s Foundation delivers support, advocacy and research to improve outcomes for preemies and their families. They include many recources but the main once that can help Janine are; a books about preemies, information about parenting preemies, research & advocacy, support for common preemie challenges. The books they offer can give Janine a clear idea on how to correctly manage a prtem baby with evidence based data and can give her a sence of control because she would have the knowledge properly care for a child. The support they offer for common preemie challanges includes overcoming infant feeding challanges. This group is just for parents of preemies having difficulty with eating who want support from other moms and dads, as well as experts, from birth to 2 years. The advantages for this resource is its availability online and also its events all over the country. Which make it easy for Janine to join this group and educate herself about premature babies, get evidenced based data about her child’s gastroesophageal reflux and difficulty with eating, she can also get support and realize that many parents go through what she is going through and that she is not alone these parents can help her cope.
