Jason Stratum Narrative
Jason Stratum known as my glump name, returning late at night from my business trip to my abode as abruptly my car breaks, with the bungle of its breaks which were already at stake since the cars folktale. “Grunts” I stretched my muscles and hummed in an impeccable tone “I am not buying this one on me, it’s all my wives botch for not getting it furbished up even though I told her I wouldn’t be having enough time to do it by myself because of the strenuous demand from my superiors”. Fortunately, while scrutinizing around, a hotel seemed to catch my eye which looked pretty much active even at this late night. The hotel had a unique texture with the building antediluvian and superannuated, its doors and windows, a primeval history. Even though I wouldn’t want to spend my night in such a sinister bombed hotel, but I had to because all the surrounding was desolated and the only way was to either spend my night in the hotel or tread along the way to my house on my bare foot while dragging the car a whole lot of weigh to carry. These circumstances forced …show more content…
I was roving around shuddering with fear and after a matter minutes I also got beware that the windows panes of the hotel were two ways, that a person can see outside but an outsider cannot see inside. This made me very livid but also flustered. I was not being able to think properly as instantly something scintillated my mind. I tried my luck as if it might sparkle a light. I called the two strangers who were the only one whom had checked out of this hotel and seldom had my prophecy become my reality. The one whose picture was hanging loosely on the right side, counseled me and told me that this hotel is game of merchandise whosoever wins, walks home and whoso doesn’t becomes a part of the fine arts and it also has limitations till dawn and a person must find a key in order to open the

That night, I once again woke up from my fitful sleep and decided to walk it off, but when I came downstairs, feeling the touch of the wooden handrail, and the pair of survivors on watch didn't wave back to me, or even blink. I exited the house, and the wind whistled as the world froze, and — suddenly there was a glimpse of someone darting through the streets. They were a cat - they moved lithely and disappeared from sight for a few seconds, then reappeared…

Denise Grady’s (2006) article sound a strong wake up call for the American government and for the American public to re-evaluate their guiding principles towards war in Iraq and the continued presence of the American soldiers in the Iraqi soil. In the “And this will conclude our transmission from the International Hotel” chapter, we are introduced to many characters who are less known and recognizable compared to the others. This chapter is told through a radio transmission by the character Arthur and describes the violent end to the Hotel. The final tenants are now left to fend for themselves on the streets as they are forced from their homes. Ultimately, the Hotel is set to be destroyed and sold in exchange for gentrification. One of the residents was quotes as saying: "I am crippled, and I am deaf, and I am very old. I am alone here, and they put me in the street. I want freedom, the principle of American democracy in the richest country in the world. Do you think our mayor has a place for me? No. No. Because I was happy here". Obviously, the hotel as held significant meaning for each of its residents – despite it being sometimes mystifying or complex. In essence, the hotel may have been shut down and its residents enduring a bloody protest, but in the end, it was the only option they had left apart from their previous futile efforts in non-violent…

The outside was white with bricks showing through suggesting the building had probably been there some time. The lobby was several shades of brown except an out of place brightly multicolored cabinet that was in the corner. I was reminded of old books and newspapers as the lobby seemed to be made out of dust in the best way possible and it smelled like warm cinnamon. A sign on the wall offered apartments and hotel rooms. Despite the wooden vacancy sign hung outside, no one came out to greet us in the fifteen or so minutes we waited. We eventually called it and took off down the road. As we walked farther down Wright street and tried to avoid the small amounts of traffic we came across a few abandoned buildings, a photographer’s dream. Cracks and crevasses ran up and down the walls and vines crept up the sides of the buildings, wound their way through the cracks and and bursting through the windows that had been boarded up with wood that had begun to rot. My curiosity was peaked and it took a lot of self control to not find a way in to further explore the buildings but through the remaining dirty windows I could see a lot of old wood and what looked like trash on the floor. The building on the end was especially peculiar for it had the remnants of some poster that had been hung there once upon a time but now all that’s left are some eyes. They seemed to watch you wherever you went and they reminded me of the eyes of Doctor…

It seemed like I was wandering into a different dimension. My senses were becoming acquainted to new feelings: guttural whispers, excruciating odour, ponderous glass-like air and the cemented, pungent, taste of death! As I opened the door candlelight rose to greet me but who lit them? I was informed that the secluded house I was purchasing has been unoccupied forever.…

This recollection jolts me right back into that moment. Wide awake now, rubbing my eyes, I was told of planes flying into towers, countless deaths and unspeakable chaos. "Turn on the T.V!" he yelled over the noise. That is when the disaster took on great magnitude. Every channel on T.V save two, were static. With sleep in my head, I stumbled my way outside only to see one of New York's greatest monuments felled and the other, smoking and looking to crumble at any moment.…

The hotel has 15 floors, and the lobby was magnificent. There was a lounge to hang out in with two couches, a t.v., and a couple chairs. Conner went up to the check-in and got the key to the room and an information brochure to tell them about the hotel. Conner and Allison’s room was 225 on the fifth floor which they got lucky because Allison does not like heights. The room had two beds, a plasma t.v., two chairs each with desk, and one enormous…

I stood up with a groan. In the distance, I could hear the cracks of gunfire and the loud, heart-stopping sound of artillery hitting the ground. I couldn’t help but think that with every explosion I heard, men would die. It’s a thought that only us soldiers could understand. I crept along the trench, towards the bunk area. I turned into the small room. There was a dim, somewhat melancholy lantern lit in the far…

Not knowing where to go. But feeling the building rumble and shake in my fear of claustrophobia. I remember hearing “GET DOWN! RUN!” Making a quick mover I jumped forward and make a break for the fire exit, it was crowded with men and women crying in pain, I joined them. The only thing I could think about is getting out of this place and Michael. I kept on stumbling down the steps holding on to people on my way down. Feeling a terrible pain in my right thigh, I peered down and saw a big gash of blood and a clear shard. I guess I couldn’t feel it because of all the adrenaline. I didn’t have time for this, only for Michael and escaping. From above a sound of falling concrete and metal bending brought an increase of screams. Maybe that woman from earlier was caught up there, so much for being important. I finally found a clearing of light from the exit. Flooding people out of the exit seemed like a liquid rushing out of a beer bottle. Finally, I made it outside but my matters have only gotten worse, the building was collapsing and I’m under everything. A lady grabbed me from the back and pulled me hard, making me drop down. Dodging a cinderblock, thanking her I ran the opposite way of the building and looking for the closest cover. Glancing back I saw people getting crushed from the construction above. There was no time to think, I had to go. Finding a distant building I took cover with the rest of the citizens praying for their life. “What’s happening?” I hollered. An old man next to me said “an attack.” My eyes widened as I watched the building fully collapse upon hundreds and hundreds of innocent people. “Who would’ve done this?” I asked terrified. The man ignored me as he watched the people were panicking. He might be panicking, but not showing his emotion. I calmed down my breathing and took a drink from a kind man giving out bottles from the café, also bandaging my wound keeping…

    St. John Narrative

To the average person it was just another day in St. John’s, Newfoundland, however, to me it was much more. It marked the day I would run across Canada, from the Atlantic to the Pacific- from St. John’s to Victoria. As I stood upon a small inlet by the coast of St. John’s, I prepared myself for a journey of a lifetime. I tried to kick my feet into the bare sedimentary rock by the jagged coastline- bad idea, and I’d be needing those feet for a while. After hours of preparation, I was finally ready to go, but my hands were trembling. As if I wasn’t controlling them my feet began moving, and I soon found myself at a light jogging pace. Years of training had prepared me for this.…

I couldn’t sleep at all last night. The nightmare of the past events haunted me all throughout the night. The visage of the body being laid out and defiled in the middle of the cold, barren road was still within my head like looking at myself in the mirror. I was near the brink of collapse, unable to bear what had just happened. I stayed in bed till about midday when I woke up from my slumber, my face dry from tears.…

A sudden coldness hit my face, as I carefully descended down the stairs of the store. The city of New York awaited me, like a painting drawn by the very hands of nature. The clouds glimmered as the sun hid behind the tall buildings. The Empire State Building stood majestically among the buildings, it’s point shone the brightest. From above, a pile of snow landed on my head, breaking the spell of the glamorous lights before my eyes. The next second, pain slashed through my arm, as the very heavy garbage bag dug into my skin, reminding my original objective, which was taking out the trash. I stepped down the last stair and into the white fluffy blanket that laid across the land.…
