Jay-Z
A man from brooklyn with very little money, and family who had passion for music came through a lot before he made it big time. “I’m hungry for knowledge. The whole thing is to learn everyday, to get brighter and brighter. That's what the world's about,” Jay-Z stated. His family had a very small amount of money. He sold drugs to gain money so his family can afford their taxes. His family’s main reason why they cannot afford their taxes is because his dad left him when he was very little. He was a smart man with a bright future, and that's why he started rapping. Jay-Z gained friends from rapping. When he gained friends he gained fame, then everything was rolling down from there. Jay-Z released his first album, it wasn’t that successful. He had to start from the bottom to get to the top, which makes his fame so significant. Jay-Z had to overcome his drug addiction, illegal incidents, and he very much struggled for money. His mom had a hard time raising the four son’s, but three of them left, the last one was Jay-Z. When he was younger he grew up in a bad neighborhood which made it tough for him. Jay-Z believed that if someone keeps trying they can go anywhere. He kept striving to get better, therefore he gained popularity. He released new songs and they were going on the charts. Then he released another album after hard work, it was the number one album in the world. …show more content…
With his money he was doing good things. He donated one million dollars to a charity after Hurricane Katrina. He inspired people who are without dads or money that they can still make it to glory. Jay-Z influenced people to keep trying. Jay-Z retired his music career, and he came back and released multiple number one albums. The big impact is that this showed the world that anyone can be successful if they try hard and do not give up. People may not have family or enough money to live, but with enough work, anybody can make it

Chapter 4 – Case StudyJay Z the Rap Artist and Business Mogul: His Rise to the TopPlease read Chapter 4's Case Study on pages 116-118 and answer the following questions: 1. As mentioned in the case, Jay-Z wears several hats with respect to the several business ventures he manages. What does this say about his time management skills? Time management means techniques designed to enable people to get more done in less time with better results. Jay-Z is known for multitasking. In the text it says research has found that people who multitask are actually less efficient than those who focus on one thing at a time. This was not the case for Jay-Z. Jay-Z took multitasking to a new level. He had many accomplishments including his musical career, co-owning the 40-40 club, partially owning the New Jersey Nets, and creating Rocawear. He also was the CEO of Def Jam Recordings, a founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, and the founder of Roc Nation. He also changed the face of Hip-Hop from baggy to dressy. What does this say about his time management? I would say that this says Jay-Z took time management and put a new face on it. He showed that he knew how to manage things while multitasking and become a very successful person. He analyzed his time well and showed that nothing is impossible. Not even multitasking. He knew his priorities, objectives, and plans and he scheduled them perfectly. 2. Step 1 and 2 in the career planning model are self-assessment and career preference and exploration. What in the case will support the possibility that Jay-Z implicitly did a self-assessment before launching into a music career as a rapper?Jay-Z has always had a sense of his career preference. When his mother got him the boom box and he discovered how well he liked music he put it in his head that he was a entrepreneur just like other successful rappers. This showed that viewed himself as successful.…
