School went by slowly as usual. Jem hated spending his precious time at such a dull place. He wanted to race the streets of the town, embark on an adventure or discover something new. Jem, trying to distract himself from falling asleep, stared out the window. He thought of the one thing that interested him: Boo Radley. Jem had always had an inexplicable fascination with Boo. He seemed so peculiar when compared to the rest of the tedious town.

Some gaping at the brawl and other shaking their heads in disapproval. In the crowd, he saw Miss Maudie and Mr. Avery. Jem could feel his cheeks heating up. Humiliation came over him. Now he felt like the town spectacle. He looked back at Arthur, anger in his eyes. “Jem I’m sorry.
