Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Jimmy Wales as the builder of Wikipedia.
Introduction:
A. Attention Getter: “The mission of Wikipedia is not just creating a killer website, but affect the world in a positive way.” Said by Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia. (Jimmy Wales, n.d.)
B. Relevance: According to the research on citations of Wikipedia, Along with the increasing number of citations, another indicator that Wikipedia may be gaining respectability is its citation by well-known scholars. (Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, 2008)
C. Credibility: As an honest user of Wikipedia for 10 years, since junior high school, I have been interested in Jimmy Wales for his awesome idea of building this amazing open-resource encyclopedia for years.
D. Thesis Statement: Jimmy Wales, as one of the founders of Wikipedia, the world’s largest collaborative encyclopedia on the Web, has a great contribution to not only the network society, but also to the world.
Transition: Now you may have some idea of who Jimmy Wales is, then let us look at how he contributed to this world.
Body:
Main point A: Wikipedia was only a simple dream of Jimmy Wales, to build a “growing-content” encyclopedia. (Jimmy Wales, n.d.)
A. Jimmy Wales set his life goal as creating a free-online encyclopedia of the highest possible quality to everyone on the planet in their own languages,that was original model of Wikipedia.
B. Another point Jimmy Wales is taking as a mission is to show the positive side of network from sharing and combing wisdom and knowledge via Wikipedia.
Directional Transition: Jimmy Wales and Wiki-works not only works in network society, but also have great contribution to people all over the world.
Main point B: Jimmy Wales made Wikipedia achieve the goal to let people with limit resource know the world with only a computer connected to network, for the reason that culture and knowledge should be free and equal to everyone.

    Since the development of Google, there has been a vast amount of information available on various topics or subjects. “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” explains and examines the different ways that the internet has been more useful and beneficial, according to the words of the author, Nicholas Carr.
