The final trilogy of the Star Wars saga will leave geeks of the beloved films immensely disappointed. Disney chose to not have George Lucas involved in the making of the final three movies, stings like throwing salt on an open wound. With this in mind, Disney has chosen to hand the keys to the kingdom for JJ Abrams to oversee. This gives Abrams the opportunity to gamble with reviving this presumed ailing sci-fi franchise (depends on who you ask?) is truly a mistake. In reality Abrams selected by Lucas to direct the seventh film originally looked great on paper, but his record of missteps in films and television brings up the question. If we can trust that Abrams is the right person to capture the lore that many geeks around the world feels
Over the years his involvement with many projects have actually produced great films. Abrams has done great all around in television and film, although he drops the ball more times than people tend to remember in the aspect of the small and silver screen. While most when thinking of Abrams in television naturally will mention shows such as Lost, Alias or Felicity has high notes validating his position to shepherd this franchise. On the other hand, shows Alcatraz, Six Degrees and What about Brian says differently, these forgotten failures validate my point. Everything has to be perfect when it comes to this franchise, with this in mind fans that truly love the series of Star Wars believe failure is not an option. While other franchises are struggling with reboots today to reconnect with a newer ordinance. Star Wars as an entity hasn’t been blemish with this brand tarnishing attempt. However, I may have spoken too soon since Abrams history shows that his poor selection of scripts could possibly embarrass the franchise. If any of the next five Star Wars films flop, we may be going through what would be the first cringing reboot. I pray this doesn’t happen to this hallowed series’
