K. because of her books and how I relate to them. Having read about her, I have discovered that those books reflect parts of her life and mine. Rowling and I have many similarities in our lives. She watched her mother degrade from MS and I watched my grandfather’s decline from liver cancer. We both have a younger sibling of about the same age difference and we both moved around until finally ending up in the country. Though there are many reasons I selected J. K. for this essay, one stands out above the rest. She and I have had a very similar experience as a single parent. I too have found myself in the aftermath of a failed relationship, alone in a new town, and struggling just to feed my child. I can relate to …show more content…
K.’s path to her success. The one that stands out the most is her mother’s death. She had the type of relationship with her mother I always wished to have. Having watched her mother go through a rapid form of this disease has left a huge imprint on her life. She joined the MS Society of Scotland, becoming a Patron (Rowling, Inside MS, 2002), to promote awareness and strive for a better treatment. Another notable obstacle came with worldwide fame of the HP book series and the international success of the film series based on her book, which is the amount of controversy generated over the years. From accusations of teaching children to practice witchcraft, to having her books burned, and having people attempt to stand in the way of her getting awards and recognition for her work; she has held strong to her views and continued to
