Job Shadow Report
I shadowed the art teacher at Klondike Middle School. The art teacher’s name is Mrs. Asay. Mrs. Asay teaches children from ages 11-14. She teaches them how to creatively make art. She also helps students when they have questions that they can’t answer. Mrs. Asay has to grade and test the children's knowledge of art. She follows the school system’s curriculum guide to help know what to teach.
Mrs. Asay loves the chance to share with others what she loves. But she dislikes all the testing, how little the pay is, and how much the state controls what she teaches. When I job shadowed her, we both walked around the room to observed what the students had come up with. Mrs. Asay also helped the students come up with creative patterns that they could add to their project. When I was there, the seventh graders worked on the new covers for their assignment logs for next year.
Mrs. Asay teaches in a classroom with lots of cabinets and shelves in it. They have certain shelves for their big artwork. In the cabinets were a lot of different art tools and supplies. There were many posters on the walls, trying to inspire the students. The students worked at tables with others nearby. O Net Online agreed that a four year degree or more is needed to become a teacher. As long as you take classes in your major or subject, then the only training you might want is being a student aide. A lot of high schools offer some sort of art class like ceramics, painting, or even a basic 2D drawing class. Mrs. Asay uses social skills on a daily bases. If she did not have good social skills she could not properly communicate with her coworkers and
