On Friday night, Joseph Corrales was taken into police custody and charged with murder for allegedly killing 17-year-old Alexis Urbina.
Corrales told 3TV’s Karen Brown that he had given his neighbor, whose name is Robert, a ride to Urbina’s house the day of the murder.
Corrales said Robert and Urbina then got into a fight, although he didn’t know what led to the altercation.
Corrales said he didn't know Urbina, and he didn't know the connection between Robert and Urbina-Ochoa.
“I’m sorry, sorry for everything,” Corrales added Friday night as he left the Phoenix Police Department.
Shortly after Corrales' interview aired, the second suspect, Robert Chavez, was arrested by police.
On Saturday, Urbina's sister told 3TV that the arrests were a start to some form of closure, adding that the entire ordeal has been extremely difficult on the family. see joe is a loser he s bad dont trust him keep him away from anyone you love.
THE ENDUrbina was found unconscious in his South Phoenix home on Sept. 3.
He was rushed to a local hospital, but eventually died from his injuries.
Following Urbina’s murder, police said there were no signs of forced entry at the home, but that several items in the house were missing.
Phoenix police arrested two people Friday night in connection with the September murder of a 17-year-old champion boxer, authorities said.
Joseph Jessie Corrales, 23, and one not yet named, were taken into custody in an ongoing investigation to determine how Alexis Urbina was killed Sep. 5.
Urbina, a 2013 USA Boxing youth national champion died in a hospital after being beaten at his home in south Phoenix.
Corrales‘ involvment with Urbina was not immediately clear, as social media sites indicate both went to different high schools.
