He once said in a speech as the president " Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country," as part of trying to get Americans to become more involved in the country with public service. John had come up with the peace corps to aid underdeveloped countries in the world. This had helped many people in many countries. He helped expand the American Space Program in 1961 and set a goal to put a man on the moon. During his service of presidency he was faced with the Cold War. Many powerful leaders didn’t get along and they were working on nuclear activity. Kennedy helped stop this problem by writing the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty to stop countries like the Soviet Union from testing nuclear bombs in their country. He attempted to make peace with the leaders and tried to end the Cold War. John had changed the world for the better, he made peace, and saved many people. He was a very important part in the world. In only his third year as President, he was assassinated on Nov. 22 1963 in Dallas, Texas.
