“Of Mice and Men” John Steinbeck was an American author he was classified as a freelance writer, Steinbeck's novels can all be classified as social novels dealing with the economic problems of rural. Steinbeck wrote novels and short stories of social criticism. Some of his most famous writings, “Dubious Battle” (1936), and a series of admirable short stories, “The Long Valley” (1938), The “Grapes of Wrath” (1939) and “Of Mice and Men” (1937). And the other reason they want this farm is that George doesn’t want Lennie to hurt anybody else and more because Lennie is always hurting thing carelessly but he does this way George is able to protect Lennie. Another great symbolism is when they go to the new town that they go to is named soledad the town its self is a contextual symbol which represents loneness and failed dreams for example “for a moment the place was lifeless… I hardly never seen two guys travel together you know how the hands are, they just come in and get a bunk and work a month, and they quit and go out alone. The theme of the story was about the impossibility of the American dreams. These dreams are often impossible to reach and stay as a simple dream on a few people can taste the glory of accomplishing their dreams. George was so close on being able to accomplish his dream but Lennie ruined all this as so, as he killed curly wife and as soon as that happen George saw his dreams fade.
