Johnny was a nice and I respected him. To us he was brave enough to save people’s lives.
I respected Johnny, and how he put up with the abuse by his dad. I have never heard him complain either. Sure, he’d talk about it, but I never heard him complain. Even though he had a tough life he was always happy. I remember watching him save those kids in the burning church, risking and putting his life in danger. Only thing on his mind was the safety of those around him.
It’s going to be hard after knowing that Johnny had died. Losing Johnny is a big thing for us and our gang knowing that we have just lost someone at a very young age. One word that describes Johnny is strong. He was a fighter. He was eager to help other people. To many people he was little Johnny, the poor, abused puppy. However he sure looked tough to the folks he had not met or knows of. Johnny was strong because of what he put up with. Johnny was love itself. We were his real family. We supported him, if he was kicked out we were there to take care of him. All he ever wanted was to be loved. It made him awful that his own parents did not love or even care about him.
When we were together Johnny and I didn’t have to do anything to be special. Just sitting aside next to each other was enough. Although Johnny didn’t talk that much he was fine by me. Just looking in those big eyes and you will realize and knew what he would be thinking. He was smart too. Understood more than I have ever had. I also remember how he said to stay gold, that will forever encourage me to stay strong just as strong as he was.
I know Johnny is in a better place now and that he deserves it. I was thinking of how modest Johnny was about his achievements and how he brought so much joy to so many of us. He will always be remembered. Rest in peace Johnny.

Johnny shows determination by fighting back against Bob & the other Socs that had jumped them. He was determined to save his friend Ponyboy. Another way Johnny shows determination is by going into the burning church. Nothing held him back from saving the kids, not even Dally! He was only focused on the kids, nothing else had bothered him. The last way Johnny was determined was when he was living at the church. He was focused on not being caught by the police. Johnny had even cut his hair and washed of the grease, which was the greaser pride. Johnny was determined to do everything he can for his fellow greasers.…

A key part to a successful friendship is definitely forgiveness. Sometimes it is hard to forgive the ones who hurt us so deeply that we cannot express our sorrow through words. When Owen hit that baseball that tragically killed Johnny's mother, obviously both would be absolutely devastated. Now, it is pretty safe to say that if anyone, with the exception of a select few people, killed one of our parents or guardians that we would hold a stolid grudge that could not be diminished by any means. However, this was not the case with Johnny Wheelwright. Despite the fact his best friend unintentionally murdered his mother, he welcomed his sympathy and friendship with an open heart, as if Owen was completely uninvolved. Clearly Johnny's concerns were not even geared towards Owen when he narrates, "So what if Owen has the ball? I was thinking. But at the time I was mainly thinking about my mother " (Irving 35) It takes a very close bond to overlook something as major as murdering a parent, but Johnny and Owen's friendship was indeed so strong that not even this catastrophic accident could so much as dent their indestructible friendship. Their illustration of forgiveness is the model for a true friendship.…

Johnny’s parents abuse him verbally and physically, and he usually chooses to stay away from his home. He clarifies the theme of family love in the story because his family is the opposite of it. Ponyboy says, “If it hadn’t been for the gang, Johnny would have never known what love and affection are.” I chose this quote because it describes how much Johnny needs the gang. This quote identifies Johnny as a character whose life has been changed because of his peers and how they have helped him.…

Johnny has a fairly complex character which contributes to deep thought-processing of the storyline. The author does an excellent job of displaying how you can treat different people, different ways in different situations. Inadvertently, Johnny would be nice to Rab but be unkind to Mr. Tweetie. This is not only Johnny’s imperfection. Many people can be hateful to others because of something they did. Rab was a good example for Johnny because Rab taught Johnny the ten-second rule. The ten-second rule states that if someone does something to you, wait ten seconds before responding. Consequently, this pause will give the person time to apologize if it was an accident or give time to think about what the next decision will be.…

Johnny’s accident was the effect of his pride. Johnny was too proud. He was constantly giving orders and wouldn't take advice from others because he thought he was too good and didn't need it. Johnny accepted John Hancock’s request to have a silver sugar basin made in time for his wife’s birthday. With the deadline almost near, Dove was told to fetch a crucible for Johnny. Dove was older than Johnny, but was treated inferior by him. Dove then decided he would teach Johnny a lesson so he reached to the back of the shelf for the cracked crucible and gave it to Johnny. He had the roughest background to me out of the whole gang. He always had this spark of sadness in his eyes. The gang thinks of him as an abused puppy. To me after all he has been put through, he still does all these heroic things in the book, and seeing his background and seeing what he does just makes my mind blown. He has defiantly impacted me. He made me think that not all heros have a perfect super life. You don't have to be rich, or have a perfect life to show acts of kindness and braveness. Johnny showed both, and he may have made some mistakes, but everyone has and will. He may not be like every gang member , but he definitely showed that , he can do what he puts his mind to.…

Johnny Cade suffered a lifetime of feeling neglected and unwanted by his abusive parents. At the beginning of this story, Ponyboy Curtis, a fellow gang member, begins by introducing all of his close friends to the readers. Johnny’s backstory is given at this point which mentions Johnny’s rough home life. “His mother ignored him... you could hear her yelling clean down at our house.” ( Hinton, 12) Johnny takes his parent’s hatred towards him personally, causing him to change his view of the world. Where many people receive love and affection from their parents, he receives abuse and bitterness. Consequently this means Johnny has no one to look for when he feels alone, which is a leading factor in what made him grow up quickly, thus losing his innocence at a young age. However, this is just one way that caused Johnny to suffer a loss of innocence.…

From the beginning, Johnny Friendly proves to be worthy of standing up to. He is ruthless and unforgiving. Friendly grinds the union members for money, punishing his own associates when they step out of line and arranging the murder of “canaries”, at this degree, reason enough to testify. Friendly expects complete loyalty from his men and uses fear in order to maintain that authority. Friendly’s fear is that he will be seen as “just another fella” and lose the status and power he holds. It is clear from the beginning of the film that a special bond exists between Terry and Johnny Friendly. In many respects, Friendly is initially a father figure to Terry whose own father was “bumped off”. He is even reffered to as “Uncle Johnny” reinforcing the family bond that exists between the two. Friendly shows a rough…

“His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him. He would have run away a million times” (Hinton 11). He has lost his parents, just like Ponyboy, but in a different way. Johnny’s parents don’t care about him. Because they were treating him in a bad way at a young age, he loses his innocence and gets a chance to see the real world as an adult and not the way a child should. Another example of losing innocence is when he kills Bob, a Soc, and Cherry’s girlfriend. Ponyboy describes the scene, when “[Johnny] was sitting next to me, one elbow on his knee, and staring straight ahead. He was a strange greenish-white, and his eyes were huger than I'd ever seen them. A dark pool was growing from [under Bob]... They were drowning you, Pony. They might have killed you. And they had a blade... they were gonna beat me up’” (Hinton 49-50). He has not experienced murder before the incident, but now he has. Johnny has always been the one getting beat up, and killing someone proves that he has lost his innocence yet…

Though he would often shy away from daunting social situations or tasks, Johnny performed several rather momentous acts of loyalty in his short life. When Ponyboy was being drowned in the park by the group of drunk Socs (Bob and his friends), Johnny acted out of deep concern for himself and his friend by stabbing Bob. This loyalty to Ponyboy cost him a fairly untarnished criminal record, and later, in the succession of events, his life. Johnny’s life was lost in both this act of loyalty, and another- saving the children from the burning church. After Johnny killed Bob, he and Ponyboy fled to an abandoned church on Jay Mountain. When they came back from a short excursion for food and found the church on fire, Johnny used his loyalty to his own belief of the existence of good in the world, and dove into the fire to save the children. Ponyboy described Johnny’s expression while inside the church, capturing a vague idea of how Johnny may have felt to have been doing something wonderful with his life. “I caught on quick look at his face; it was red-marked from falling embers and sweat-streaked, but he grinned at me… That was the only time I can think of when I saw him without that defeated, suspicious look in his eyes. He looked like he was having the time of his life” (Hinton 92). Finally, Johnny was loyal to one person on a regular basis- Dally. Perhaps not as drastic as sacrificing himself or another, but loyalty all the same. Johnny admired Dally, so much so, that when he was on his own deathbed and Dally told him the one thing he had always wanted to hear -that Dally was proud of him- he was so extremely happy, and he had a bit of peace to keep with him when he…
