Jonestown Recreation Center
Recreation centers are amazing for a community. They bring in people of the community to be a part of activities. Jonestown, Pennsylvania is my home town. Living in this town is very boring because there’s not a lot to do unless you go into the city of Lebanon. I always wanted to have something like a recreation center a little closer after I went to the YMCA in Lebanon. It is an amazing atmosphere for all ages and it brings the community together and that is why my design is building a recreation center in Jonestown, Pennsylvania.
Philosophy
My objective for building a band new recreation center in Jonestown, Pa is to get troubled youth off the streets. To many kids make bad decisions when they are active in the streets of Jonestown. By

When you walk into this magnificent building, you will see four regulation basketball courts. Each court will have its own score board. A screen will separate the basketball courts. On the side of the courts there will be benches for both teams to sit on. On the sides of the court there will be spots were the volleyball poles can go in. Right next to the entrance there will be a front desk, where all the members of the recreation center sign in every time they enter and leave the building. You also can get tournament information there along with signing up to be a member. This is also where you can get your basketballs. All the members must show them their ID and they can get whatever they like. Right next to the front desk are two water fountains. We also have a male, female and all gender bathrooms for the members. We have a male and female locker room with four showers in the locker room. Along the wall right next to the locker rooms, there is a concession stand. Each member can get one free water bottle a day with showing their ID. Everything else is under three dollars. To the left of the entrance will be a fitness room. When you walk into the gym you will see free weights, machine weights and squatting racks. There are also three mirrors inside the gym and two water fountains. We also put three TVs in the weight room for people to watch and a sound system for the member to pick what songs they want to listen to …show more content…
My target audience is going to be teenagers to elderly people, but I think the majority will be the families of the community. I will be making flyers that list all the activities we run in our facility. The contact information will also be list as well as the costs of a member ship. I would “sell” my idea to the community members by telling them why drive thirty minutes into the city that a lot of people don’t like or want to drive into unless they must, when there is a recreation center in their back yard. The flyers will be in the local grocery stores and restraint and in the nearby elementary schools and the high school. In the high school and elementary schools, I will have them take field trips to come see my facility. In high schools the health class and the fitness and weight/gym class will come and tour the facility so they have an idea of what it looks like. Then hopefully go to their parents or legal guardian at home and tell them all about their experience at the recreation

The organization provides a safe and welcoming environment for children and their families to play, learn and interact. The program reaches out to mainly lower income families who live within the county limits. The families that have children aged 3 years to age 16 years are the organization’s main focus group. The organization is a non-profit program. It does not charge a fee for the services it provides, but rather depends on donations, investors and volunteers. The organization would work by communicating with the schools, churches, and police stations to give the program’s information to certain youth and their families. The children who are bullied into doing/not doing something, suffer from bad grades, or have a criminal past would be the main focus of the group. At the organization, there would be spaces for different activities like a gymnasium for sports, one or two classrooms for tutoring and homework help, and a game room with a variety of…

Three years ago my friend Amy and I were looking for a way to bring customers into Behm’s Sawdust City while helping the community. After about a month of throwing ideas around Amy came across an advertisement for Toys for Tots, and we decided that this would be a great way to bring people in and help the community. Little did we know that it would be a huge success! Every year we have had to become more organized. The first time we get together we decide on what band we are going to try and book and where we are going to ask for donations. Next we split up and go to different businesses and individuals that have donated in the past or may want to donate this year. Finally we advertise for the dance and start looking for volunteers to help.…

“According to Padfield, (2010), our youth now love luxury so much that they have bad manners, contempt for authority and show little respect for their elders. Children no longer rise when an adult enters the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up their food, and tyrannize their teachers.” That is why we at Calhoun Community Services believe there is a need for this type of program for adolescent youth (females) and their families who happen to have little or no education. We have decided on a timeline for starting this program and we believe that we can have everything up and running in about six months from the receipt of this proposal.…
